Just how grim can it get up north? (Actually, it's quite nice.) One woman's not-so-lonely journey into the Northern heartlands.

Pantry antics
Easter has been slightly crazy with the children stoked with chocolate, my parents staying with us and two sets of holidaying friends with their children flitting in and out of the house. I also took on some work which was a mistake, got flu and ofcourse, lost the car keys for six days. Oh, and I reinstated the pantry. Have broken the news to the builder but have not yet told the architect. The builder did not seem surprised. I am not sure how the architect will feel. We measured it out on the dug out floor. "It's not big enough," I said as I stood in the corner. "I need to be able to go in and shut the door." I think he thought I was joking. I was not joking. I want a lock, light, stool, book, bottle and glass. I always thought the Egyptians were on to something. Maybe, if the architect looks very unhappy, I will tell him that it could have been worse; I could have demanded a pyramid.

Oh, good for you! Our "pantry" is a closet about 8 inches deep. I can't fit inside. :^( I've tried.
hahahahahahahaha!! just imagining a huge pyramid in the middle of northumberland!
Dont get locked in there!
Bernard has a point darling. do you think a lock on the food, and more importantly, booze, store would be such a good idea given your recent record with keys?
You should ensure that your pantry is sound-proofed, so that no-one will be able to hear you scream (or sing, depending on how much of the bottle you consume).
Go for the pantry..I have one..it is like my right arm..the left being the walk in fridge..where you can dump the shopping in bags
Our pantry is not big enough for an adult to fit in, but is just the right size for both kiddos. Put the snacks on a low shelf, let them make a little nest, shut the door and you'll have the rest of the house to yourself!
OOps - sorry wrong closet - thought this was a new entry about Panty Antics. Must get my eyes tested.
I'm really glad your mother found the car key. Is she planning a visit to Glasgow soon? One of my friends has lost 3 rings. I suggested she have a word with St Anthony but your mother might be who she really needs!
Liz, Glasgow
Hurrah! The pantry wins out - how could it not?
