I did the same thing in university -- wandered past the five-story science building where the local ROTC chapter was encouraging people to rappell (aka abseiling for Yanks) from the top floor, thought, "Oh, why not," and promptly found myself tied into a Swiss seat while a classmate in olive drab camo assured me that I could do this.

Apparently I went down the wall like a commando. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I couldn't hang on in the "sit into the seat" position and bounced my way down in sheer terror.Melaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18134369458517300845noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37400848.post-70572679529444123792007-10-03T14:43:00.000+01:002007-10-03T14:43:00.000+01:00Very brave. So, I wasn't sure what "abseil" meant. So I had to go on "context."

After reading a bit, I figured, it must be "bungie-jumping."

And then I thought to myself, in my poshest Marlon Brando British accent, is this woman "med?"

I mean, why not just play Russian Roulette? At least the poor little kids watching TV might have their Mummy come home to make lunch.

So I googled it. It doesn't mean bungie-jumping at all. After my initial fright, I think shimmying down the side of a castle wall doesn't seem so bad, after all.Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09544494033981606866noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37400848.post-29040976007188423382007-10-02T18:25:00.000+01:002007-10-02T18:25:00.000+01:00Bridget Jones sliding down the fireman's pole sort...Bridget Jones sliding down the fireman's pole sort of look?@themillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17644636690850127781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37400848.post-48074498226577709372007-10-02T17:10:00.000+01:002007-10-02T17:10:00.000+01:00Ho Ho!!Ho Ho!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37400848.post-92183921954007622972007-10-02T14:12:00.000+01:002007-10-02T14:12:00.000+01:00So why exactly did you do it???
